A wild elephant was found dead today along the banks of the Bornadi River near No. 2 Dongargaon in Assam’s Tamulpur district, triggering concern among wildlife authorities and local residents.
Forest Department Begins Investigation
Forest officials quickly reached the spot and have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the elephant’s death. A post-mortem examination has been ordered, and the exact cause will be revealed once the results are available.
Recent Human-Wildlife Conflict
According to reports, the same elephant had attacked and injured a forest worker earlier this week on Wednesday, raising the possibility that the incident may be linked to recent human-wildlife conflicts in the area.
Authorities are closely examining whether the death was natural, accidental, or due to human intervention.
