Pulwama Launches “Tobacco Free Youth Campaign 3.0” to Promote a Healthier, Tobacco-Free Future
The District Health Society Pulwama has officially launched the Tobacco Free Youth Campaign 3.0 at the District Commissioner’s Office to raise awareness among young people about the dangers of tobacco use and to encourage a tobacco-free lifestyle. The initiative aims to inspire the youth to take the lead in creating a healthier community free from tobacco addiction.
The event began with the participants taking the Tobacco Free Youth Pledge, reaffirming their commitment to spread the message of a tobacco-free Pulwama. The launch was attended by Assistant Commissioner Revenue Shahbaz Ahmad Boda, who also serves as the Nodal Officer for the National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP), along with senior officials from the Police Department and District Administration.
Tobacco Free Youth Campaign 3.0 Focuses on Youth Empowerment
Addressing the gathering, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Shahbaz Ahmad Boda highlighted that the Tobacco Free Youth Campaign 3.0 aims to empower young people as the driving force behind Pulwama’s movement toward a healthier society. He called on students and community groups to actively participate in spreading awareness about the harmful effects of tobacco consumption.

Officials emphasized that young people are powerful agents of change. Through student-led initiatives in schools, colleges, and community programs, the campaign seeks to ensure that every household in Pulwama understands the risks of tobacco and supports a collective move toward a smoke-free environment.

The collaboration between the Health Department, Police, and educational institutions aims to strengthen the enforcement of tobacco control laws. Joint efforts are expected to enhance monitoring, reduce tobacco sales near schools, and build greater awareness about the consequences of tobacco use among both sellers and consumers.
