PM Modi Hails Gen Z at Skyroot Infinity Campus Launch, Calls Them Future of India’s Space Power
Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised India’s Gen-Z for driving the country’s new-age space ambitions as he virtually inaugurated Skyroot Aerospace’s Infinity Campus in Hyderabad. He said whenever India opens new doors of opportunity, the youth step forward with energy and put national interest above everything else. The Prime Minister highlighted their creativity, positive mindset and ability to build cutting-edge technologies that are shaping India’s future in space and innovation.
PM Modi Gen Z space sector and India’s private space revolution
PM Modi said India’s Gen-Z is playing a decisive role in transforming the country’s space sector through innovation and entrepreneurship. He pointed out that more than 300 space startups are currently active across the nation and many of them began with just a few young minds working from small rented spaces with limited resources but limitless ambition.
According to the Prime Minister, this determination has given rise to a strong private space ecosystem in India. He said young engineers, coders, designers and scientists are now developing advanced solutions in propulsion systems, composite materials, rocket stages and satellite platforms, which were once considered out of reach for Indian startups.
Gen Z driving India’s broader startup boom
PM Modi linked the success of space startups to the larger startup movement in the country. Over the last decade, Gen-Z innovators have built impactful solutions across FinTech, HealthTech, AgriTech, ClimateTech, EduTech and DefenceTech.
He stated that India has now become the world’s third-largest startup ecosystem with over 1.5 lakh registered startups and several unicorns. Importantly, these ventures are no longer limited to metropolitan cities. Startups are now emerging from small towns and rural regions as well, showing how innovation is spreading across every corner of the nation.
PM Modi Gen Z space sector boost with Skyroot’s Vikram-I
As part of the event, the Prime Minister also unveiled Skyroot Aerospace’s first orbital launch vehicle Vikram-I. He said such developments mark a new phase for India’s private space journey and show how young entrepreneurs are strengthening the country’s technological sovereignty.
Skyroot’s Infinity Campus spans around two lakh square feet and is designed for the development, integration and testing of multiple launch vehicles. The facility has the capacity to manufacture one orbital rocket every month, which can significantly boost India’s commercial space launch capabilities in the coming years.
Skyroot Aerospace and its growing contribution to India’s space industry
Skyroot Aerospace, founded by former ISRO scientists and IIT alumni Pawan Chandana and Bharath Dhaka, is one of India’s leading private space companies. In November 2022, it made history by launching Vikram-S, India’s first privately developed sub-orbital rocket.
The new Infinity Campus will further accelerate the company’s mission to build cost-effective launch vehicles for small satellite launches. The Prime Minister said such efforts not only strengthen India’s position in the global space market but also inspire the country’s youth to dream bigger and innovate fearlessly.
