Bhubaneswar: The Hockey India League 2025–26 is set to make a highly anticipated return to Bhubaneswar, widely regarded as the birthplace and heartbeat of Indian hockey. With matches scheduled to begin on January 17, ticket sales went live on Tuesday at 11:00 am IST. In a major boost for fans, Hockey India has announced that entry to all matches will be completely free.

The league will culminate with its grand finale on January 26, promising an electrifying celebration of hockey in Odisha’s capital, which has emerged as a major hub for the sport in recent years.

Hockey India League 2025–26 Brings Free Entry for Fans

Speaking on the occasion, Dilip Tirkey, Chairperson of the Hockey India League Governing Committee, highlighted the enthusiasm surrounding the league’s return to Bhubaneswar. He said that hosting the tournament in India’s hockey heartland has generated immense excitement among local supporters eager to watch their favourite players in action.

To further enhance fan participation, Hockey India decided to make tickets free of cost. According to Tirkey, this initiative is expected to draw fans from across Odisha to Bhubaneswar, creating a vibrant stadium atmosphere and allowing more people to experience high-quality hockey live.

Final on January 26 Expected to Draw Packed Crowds

Bhola Nath Singh, a member of the HIL Governing Committee, also called on fans to turn up in large numbers. He said the league would conclude in Bhubaneswar on January 26 and expressed confidence that the final would witness a packed stadium as fans come together to celebrate #hockeykajashn.

Singh added that expanding the sport’s fanbase across regions has been a core objective of the league, and hosting the final in Bhubaneswar aligns perfectly with that vision.

Hockey India League 2025–26 Features Intense Competition

The league comprises eight men’s teams and four women’s teams, competing under newly redesigned formats that promise fast-paced and entertaining encounters. The revamped structure has added intensity to matches, keeping fans engaged throughout the tournament.

In the men’s competition, Kalinga Lancers are currently leading the points table in the first phase being held in Chennai. They opened their campaign with a strong 4–2 victory at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Hockey Stadium, signalling their intent early in the season.

Women’s HIL Sees SG Pipers Seal Final Berth

In the women’s league, SG Pipers have already secured a place in the final as table toppers. Their qualification was confirmed after Soorma Hockey Club defeated the Ranchi Royals on Monday.

With top teams hitting peak form and free entry for spectators, the Hockey India League 2025–26 promises to deliver a thrilling hockey spectacle as it heads toward a high-energy finish in Bhubaneswar.
