NEW DELHI: The NEET UG Re-Exam 2026 was held on Sunday under heightened security measures across India and abroad, marking a crucial step in restoring confidence in one of the country’s largest entrance examinations. The retest was conducted after the earlier examination held on May 3 was cancelled amid an ongoing investigation into an alleged question paper leak.
More than 22 lakh candidates were expected to appear for the examination, making it one of the largest academic exercises in the country. Authorities implemented strict monitoring and security protocols to ensure the process remained transparent and disruption-free.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) organised the examination at 5,440 centres across 551 cities in India. In addition, 14 examination centres were set up overseas to accommodate candidates appearing from abroad.
