BHUBANESWAR: The Subhadra Yojana 5th instalment is set to be released on Raksha Bandhan, with the Odisha government working to extend the scheme’s benefits to more than one crore eligible women. Ahead of the next round of payments, Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida has directed officials to complete the verification of all pending applications to ensure that no eligible beneficiary is left out.
The state government is also closely monitoring the verification process to facilitate timely Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) into beneficiaries’ bank accounts.
Subhadra Yojana 5th Instalment Verification in Final Phase
Reviewing the implementation of the flagship welfare scheme, Pravati Parida instructed officials to complete field verification of all pending applications by July 25.
She asked the department to monitor the verification status daily so that eligible applicants can be included before the fifth instalment is credited.
According to officials, nearly 3.53 lakh applications are awaiting field-level verification. Reports prepared by grassroots officials will be scrutinised by block-level committees before being examined by district authorities and finally approved by the state government.
Applicants who fulfil all eligibility conditions during this process will be added to the beneficiary list for the upcoming instalment.
Over Rs 20,648 Crore Already Transferred Under the Scheme
Since the launch of the programme, the Odisha government has transferred more than Rs 20,648 crore directly into the bank accounts of over one crore women through four instalments under the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) system.
Each eligible beneficiary receives Rs 5,000 per instalment, with the scheme providing Rs 10,000 annually in two equal payments.
Officials said many applications remain pending because of incomplete formalities, including:
- e-KYC verification
- Aadhaar-linked bank account verification
- Biometric authentication
The Deputy Chief Minister urged applicants to complete these procedures promptly to avoid delays in receiving financial assistance.
More Than One Crore Women Expected to Receive Fifth Instalment
Official data shows that the Subhadra Yojana has received around 1.15 crore applications since its launch, including 3.17 lakh new applications during the 2026-27 financial year.
After scrutiny, about 1.02 crore women were initially shortlisted for the fifth instalment. Following district-level verification, authorities removed 5,277 beneficiaries from the list after confirming their deaths, leaving approximately 1.01 crore eligible women expected to receive the upcoming payment.
The Subhadra Yojana provides financial assistance to eligible women aged 21 to 60 years, with each beneficiary entitled to Rs 50,000 over the scheme’s five-year implementation period from 2024-25 to 2028-29. The assistance is credited directly to Aadhaar-enabled, DBT-linked bank accounts, supporting financial inclusion and women’s economic empowerment across Odisha.
