  • AgriStack ID is not mandatory for paddy procurement registration in Odisha.
  • Farmers without the digital ID can register without facing any issue.
  • Sharecroppers are also eligible to register for paddy procurement.

BHUBANESWAR: Odisha farmers will not need an AgriStack ID to register for paddy procurement, Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra clarified on Sunday.

The clarification comes amid concerns among farmers over whether the digital identification system would become a compulsory requirement for selling paddy through government procurement channels.

AgriStack ID Not Compulsory for Farmers

Patra said the government has not made the AgriStack ID mandatory for paddy procurement registration.

Of the 5,093 farmers who have registered so far, around 3,108 farmers have an AgriStack ID.

However, the minister made it clear that farmers who do not have the digital ID will still be able to complete the registration process.

Farmers Without AgriStack ID Can Register

According to Patra, the absence of an AgriStack ID will not prevent a farmer from registering for paddy procurement.

The clarification is expected to provide relief to farmers who have not yet obtained the digital identification and were concerned that they could be excluded from the procurement process.

The government has reiterated that registration for paddy procurement will remain accessible to eligible farmers regardless of whether they possess an AgriStack ID.

Sharecroppers Can Also Register

The minister also confirmed that sharecroppers are eligible to register for paddy procurement.

Patra said sharecroppers have already registered, addressing concerns raised by farmer groups over their eligibility under the procurement system.

The clarification means that both farmers without an AgriStack ID and eligible sharecroppers can participate in the registration process without the digital ID becoming a barrier.

What Farmers Should Know

For the ongoing paddy procurement registration in Odisha:

  • AgriStack ID: Not compulsory
  • Without AgriStack ID: Farmers can still register
  • Sharecroppers: Eligible to register
  • Registered farmers so far: 5,093
  • Farmers with AgriStack ID: 3,108

The government’s clarification is aimed at ensuring that the move towards digital agricultural records does not prevent eligible farmers from accessing the state’s paddy procurement system.
