The issue concerns animated productions reportedly made by Ele Animations Pvt Limited, Bhubaneswar, including the proposed serial Jai Jagannath.

According to a press release issued from the residential office of Puri’s titular King Gajapati Maharaja Dibyasingha Deb, the Muktimandap Pandit Sabha informed the Gajapati about the Shankaracharya’s position.

Jai Jagannath Animated Film Controversy Over Deity Depiction

The Shankaracharya has objected to what he described as a depiction of Lord Jagannath that does not conform to established scriptural and religious traditions.

He has called for restrictions on the film’s release and its circulation through different forms of media.

According to the statement, the seer believes that representations of sacred deities require careful consideration of the philosophical and traditional principles associated with them.

The objection particularly focuses on the manner in which the Daru Brahma form of Lord Jagannath has allegedly been represented.
