New Delhi: Air India and Air India Express have temporarily suspended flights to and from Jeddah, Riyadh and Dammam in Saudi Arabia until October 24, 2026, citing the prevailing situation in West Asia. The airlines have announced complimentary date changes and refund options for eligible passengers affected by the disruption.

Passengers holding confirmed bookings issued on or before October 15, 2026, for travel between October 9 and October 25 are eligible for a one-time complimentary date change. The revised travel date can be scheduled up to November 10, according to the airlines’ announcement.

The temporary suspension affects passengers travelling on routes connecting India with the three Saudi cities. Travellers are advised to check their flight status before heading to the airport.

Free Date Changes for Eligible Passengers

Passengers meeting the booking and travel-date conditions can change their journey dates once without additional charges.

The key conditions include:

  • The ticket must have been issued on or before October 15, 2026.
  • The original travel date must fall between October 9 and October 25, 2026.
  • The complimentary date change can be used once on the respective airline.
  • The revised journey must take place no later than November 10, 2026.

Passengers should contact their airline to confirm eligibility and available flights before making changes.

Alternative Gulf Airports for Rebooking

Passengers who do not wish to travel on their original route at a later date may choose an alternative airport in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region served by their respective airline. All alternative arrangements are subject to availability.

Air India and Air India Express passengers should confirm the available airports and routes directly with their airline before finalising travel arrangements.

Travellers choosing an alternative airport should also consider onward transportation, visa requirements and entry conditions.

Full Refund Option for Cancelled Flights

Passengers whose flights have been cancelled can opt for a full refund if they decide not to travel.

Affected passengers have been advised to contact the relevant airline’s customer care centre or visit booking offices in India or Gulf countries for help with refunds and rebooking.

Passengers who purchased tickets through travel agents should also check the applicable procedure with their booking provider.

Why Have the Flights Been Suspended?

The airlines have cited the prevailing situation in West Asia as the reason for temporarily suspending the services.

The situation has prompted airlines to monitor regional developments and adjust flight operations where necessary. The duration of the suspension may change depending on further developments.

Air India and Air India Express have said they are closely monitoring the situation and will inform passengers about further changes.

Travellers with upcoming bookings should check official airline notifications and flight-status updates before leaving for the airport.
