INS Nilgiri Joins Eastern Naval Command in Visakhapatnam as Part of Project 17A Fleet
Visakhapatnam: INS Nilgiri, the first of the indigenously built stealth frigates under Project 17A, has officially joined the Eastern Naval Command (ENC). The advanced warship is now part of the Eastern Sword-Sunrise Fleet, enhancing India’s maritime strength in the eastern seaboard.
Built in Mumbai, Now Homeported in the City of Destiny
Constructed at Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd in Mumbai, INS Nilgiri has now made Visakhapatnam—popularly known as the City of Destiny—her permanent base. The ship showcases India’s growing capabilities in indigenous naval shipbuilding.
Advanced Stealth and Power: A Symbol of Naval Prowess
The warship is equipped with cutting-edge stealth features and combat technology. Her motto, ‘Adrish Yabalam, Ajeya Shauryam’, translates to “Invisible Power, Unconquerable Valor,” embodying the spirit and strength of the Indian Navy’s new generation of warships.
