CBFC Cuts Sensual Images, Mutes ‘Inappropriate References’ in Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR’s War 2

Published on

Mumbai: Ahead of its August 14 theatrical release, War 2 starring Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, and Kiara Advani has undergone multiple changes as per the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) guidelines.

According to a Bollywood Hungama report, the War 2 CBFC cuts include muting six ‘inappropriate references’ in the film. An ‘obscene’ dialogue was replaced with an approved line, while a two-second ‘obscene’ gesture made by a character — appearing a minute after the dialogue — was completely removed.

The CBFC also directed the makers to reduce sensual images by 50%, equivalent to 9 seconds, reportedly linked to Kiara Advani’s bikini scene. After implementing these changes, War 2 was granted a U/A 16+ certificate on August 6. Initially, the film’s runtime was 2 hours, 59 minutes, and 49 seconds (179.49 minutes).

War 2 Team Voluntarily Shortens Runtime

Two days later, the production team voluntarily approached the CBFC to reduce the runtime to 2 hours, 51 minutes, and 44 seconds (171.44 minutes). No further cuts were requested in action sequences.

About War 2

Directed by Ayan Mukerji, War 2 is the sequel to the 2019 blockbuster War and is part of the YRF Spy Universe. The film follows Indian spies Major Kabir Dhaliwal (Hrithik Roshan) and Vikram (Jr NTR) as they clash over contrasting ideologies of patriotism. Kiara Advani plays Kavya Luthra.

The first War starred Hrithik Roshan, Tiger Shroff, and Vaani Kapoor, and was a massive commercial success.
