The much-anticipated War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR, and Kiara Advani, has completed its global day-one advance bookings on a surprisingly modest note. According to trade sources, the film has collected Rs 29 crore in worldwide pre-sales — Rs 20.57 crore from India and Rs 11 crore from overseas — despite towering expectations from fans and the industry.
Early estimates from Sacnilk suggest that War 2’s India gross, including block seats, stands at around Rs 32.21 crore across all languages. Advance bookings saw a brief surge when Telugu states opened ticket sales, with demand touching a peak of over 20,000 tickets sold per hour on BookMyShow. However, the final figure is still being considered underwhelming for a film from the highly popular YRF Spy Universe.

Box Office Expectations Remain High Despite Average Pre-Sales
Even with average advance numbers, industry insiders believe War 2 will deliver a strong opening on Friday. Projections suggest a Rs 50 crore net opening in India, with Rs 27–28 crore coming from the Hindi version and Rs 22 crore from the Telugu version. Internationally, the film is expected to earn between USD 2.3–2.5 million (Rs 20–22 crore), which could push the global day-one gross close to Rs 80 crore. However, given the lukewarm pre-sales, the film’s performance will now depend heavily on positive word of mouth to maintain momentum through the weekend.

Rajinikanth’s Coolie Dominates Advance Bookings
In a major box office face-off, Rajinikanth’s Coolie has overshadowed War 2 in advance sales by a massive margin. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the Tamil gangster action drama has smashed records with Rs 100 crore in advance bookings for its opening weekend. For day one alone, Coolie has already collected Rs 38 crore in India and Rs 45 crore overseas, making its day-one advance numbers over four times higher than War 2. This underlines the unmatched fan following of Rajinikanth and the incredible buzz surrounding the film.

War 2 Storyline and Cast
War 2 is the sixth installment in Yash Raj Films’ successful Spy Universe. Hrithik Roshan returns as Major Kabir Dhaliwal, but in a twist, he is now on the run, forcing the agency to send its best operative after him. Making his Bollywood debut, Jr NTR plays elite agent Vikram, tasked with tracking down and eliminating Kabir. The film promises high-octane action, globe-trotting chases, intense face-offs, and heightened emotional stakes that aim to expand the franchise’s appeal.
Directed by Ayan Mukerji, the film also stars Kiara Advani in a pivotal role, adding further intrigue to the already star-studded ensemble. With its massive production scale, top-tier cast, and thrilling storyline, the film still has the potential to turn its fortunes around after release.
