Over 1.4 Lakh Users Activate FASTag Annual Pass on Launch Day Across 1,150 Highways
In a major step towards promoting digital solutions and ease of travel, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has launched the FASTag Annual Pass 2025 from August 15, 2025, across 1,150 toll plazas on National Highways and Expressways. The initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to boost technology-driven services for citizens.
The rollout saw an overwhelming response from commuters. By 7 PM on the very first day, more than 1.4 lakh users had purchased and activated their annual passes. Toll plazas recorded nearly 1.39 lakh transactions, and the Rajmargyatra App witnessed heavy traffic throughout the day with 20,000–25,000 concurrent users. Annual pass holders also received SMS alerts confirming that their toll fee deductions have been recorded as zero.
FASTag Annual Pass 2025 Ensures Cost-Effective and Hassle-Free Highway Travel
To ensure a smooth transition, NHAI has deployed dedicated officials and nodal officers at each toll plaza to assist commuters. Additionally, it has strengthened the 1033 National Highway Helpline with over 100 extra executives to promptly respond to user complaints and queries.
The Annual Pass is designed to make travel both cheaper and more convenient. For a one-time payment of Rs 3,000, non-commercial vehicle users can travel toll-free for up to 200 toll crossings or an entire year – whichever comes first. The pass is issued through the Rajmargyatra App or the NHAI website and becomes active within two hours of payment.
With FASTag already achieving a penetration rate of about 98% and more than 8 crore users, the introduction of the Annual Pass is expected to further improve the toll collection experience and encourage even more people to adopt digital tolling options.
