Barsha Singh Bariha, BJD Candidate for Padampur

Bhubaneswar: Barsha Singh Bariha, w/o Smruti Sourav Baliarsingh, as nominated Biju Janta Dal-BJD candidate for the Padampur Assembly constituency by-election scheduled on December 5.

Finally, BJD Finds its candidate as Barsha Singh Bariha daughter of late MLA Bijaya Ranjan Singh Bariha for Padampur Assembly constituency byelection.

Notably, family members of Bariha, compete for the party ticket. Besides Barsha, the widow of the legislator Tilottama Singh and younger daughter Kadambini were keen to contest the bypoll.

Barsha Singh Bariha, who studied LLB, MA, the party hopes to get the sympathy vote and also attract women electorate, who have voted for it always. According to sources, Barsha is likely to file her nomination on November 16, 2022.

Earlier, Both BJP and Congress have already named Pradip Purohit and Satya Bhusan Sahu as their respective candidates for the by-election.

Notably, BJD won the seat in 2000, 2009, and 2019 while Purohit won in 2014 on a BJP ticket. Congress’ Satya Bhusan Sahu in 2004.

In 2019, Pradip Purohit lost the seat by an edge of 5,734 votes while the Congress finished third place.
