Coromondel Express Collides with Goods Train near Balasore

Coromandel Express Accident Live: The Coromandel Express reportedly collided near Bahanaga Station in Balasore, Odisha. After colliding with a goods train, the express train derailed, On Friday evening.

According to reports, several people were hurt when four bogies of the train ran off the track after being struck by a goods train. Following notification, local police and railway authorities arrived at the scene and are carrying out the rescue effort with the assistance of people.


Meanwhile, the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) has directed the ODRAF Team at Balasore to proceed to the scene to conduct a search and rescue operation. Also the Collector has been asked to travel to the location to make all necessary arrangements and to notify the SRC if any extra assistance is required.

The Odisha government is operating an emergency hotline at 06782-262286. Additional fire departments, medics, and ambulances are being dispatched from neighbouring districts.

In a video message on Friday, Odisha Chief Secretary Pradeep Jena said that sixty ambulances had been dispatched to the accident site to rescue passengers. “Two medical colleges, one in Balasore and one in Cuttack, are fully prepared to receive patients,” he said.

According to Odisha Chief Secretary Pradeep Jena, about three units of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been dispatched to the accident site after coaches of the Shalimar-Chennai Coromandel Express (12841) derailed late Friday evening at Bahanaga station in Odisha’s Balasore district.

‘The District Magistrate, the Inspector General of Balasore range, and the Superintendent of Police of Balasore have already arrived at the site with other senior district administration personnel,’ he added in a video speech.

After coaches of the Shalimar-Chennai Coromandel Express (12841) derailed at Bahanaga station in Odisha’s Balasore district on Friday, Eastern Railways confirmed that 132 injured people were shifted to Soro Community Health Centre (CHC), Gopalpur CHC, and Khantapada Primary Health Care Centre.

After several coaches of the Shalimar-Chennai Coromandel Express (12841) derailed at Bahanaga station in Odisha’s Balasore district on Friday, the MD of the Odisha State Disaster Management Authority (OSDMA) said that 47 people were injured.
