New Delhi: IRCTC conducts the Baba Sahib Ambedkar Yatra Tour Package under the ‘Dekho Apna Desh’ initiative which covers several prominent sites associated with the life of Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar. The first Baba Sahib Ambedkar Yatra will depart from New Delhi in April 2023.
Under the ‘Dekho Apna Desh’ initiative, the Ministry of Railways, along with the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), is running Bharat Garaf scenic trains on various themes. Circuits located all over India.
The proposed 7-night, 8-day Bharat Gaurav Excursion Train tour departs from Delhi and its first stop is Dr. Ambedkar Nagar (Mhow) in Madhya Pradesh, the birthplace of Baba Sahib (Bim Janam Bhoomi). Tourists visit Dikshabhoomi, the sacred monument of Naviana Buddhism. The train leaves Nagpur for Sanchi. Sightseeing in Sanchi includes visiting the Stupa of the same name and other Buddhist sites. After Sanchi, proceed to Varanasi as your next destination to visit Sarnath Temple and Kashi Vishwanath.
Gaya is the next final destination where tourists are taken to the sacred sites of Bodh Gaya to visit the famous Mahabodhi Temple and other monasteries. Rajgir and Nalanda and other important Buddhist sites will also be covered by the road. The tour will finally end in New Delhi. Tourists can get on and off the train at Delhi, Mathura and Agra Cantt stations.
Dr. Baba Sahib Ambedkar, popularly known as “Baba Sahib”, was the principal architect of the Indian Constitution. In addition, he was an eminent jurist, political activist, anthropologist, writer, orator, historian, writer, economist and researcher. Throughout his life, Ambedkar fought to eradicate social evils like untouchables and defended the rights of socially backward classes. This Baba Sahib Ambedkar Yatra tour organized by IRCTC aims to highlight places and destinations associated with Ambedkar’s life.
The launch of the Bharat Gaurav Tourist Train is in line with the Government of India’s ‘Dekho Apna Desh’ initiative to promote the special interest of domestic tourism.
