Bhubaneswar: A major fire broke out at a private engineering college in the Jagamara area of Bhubaneswar on Friday, prompting a swift response from fire and emergency services that successfully rescued over 65 people, including several students. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported.

According to officials, the incident occurred during a training session at the college when a fire erupted in the building’s auditorium located on the second floor.

Senior fire officer Ramesh Chandra Majhi confirmed that the department had rescued around 60 people and transported them to a nearby hospital for precautionary checkups. Another official stated that 10 ambulances were deployed to assist with the evacuation and medical support.

“Some people sustained minor injuries, and the fire has now been brought under control,” the official said.

The Odisha Fire and Emergency Services Department also confirmed the rescue operation via an official statement on X (formerly Twitter), saying:
