- Jharkhand JPSC exam cancellation has been stayed by the Jharkhand High Court until further orders.
- The order covers appointments arising from the 11th to 13th JPSC Civil Services examination and Food Safety Officer recruitment.
- The court directed reinstatement of selected candidates, citing due process and natural justice.
Ranchi: The Jharkhand High Court has temporarily blocked the state government’s decision to cancel appointments linked to the 11th to 13th JPSC Civil Services examinations and the Food Safety Officer recruitment.
Justice Deepak Roshan passed the order while hearing three petitions challenging the government’s notification issued on Tuesday. The court also directed that candidates who had already been selected and appointed should be reinstated while the legal challenge is being considered.
The order means the government’s cancellation decision will remain on hold until the court passes further directions.
Jharkhand JPSC Exam Cancellation Challenged in High Court
Three separate petitions were filed against the government’s decision. Two challenge the cancellation of the 11th to 13th JPSC Civil Services examinations and appointments, while the third concerns the recruitment of Food Safety Officers.
The High Court has sought responses from both the state government and the Jharkhand Public Service Commission. The matter will next be heard on September 15.
The petitioners told the court that 342 candidates selected through the 11th to 13th JPSC examination are currently working in government service.
Jharkhand JPSC Exam Cancellation Linked to CID Probe
The state government’s cancellation decision followed findings emerging from a CID investigation into alleged irregularities surrounding the examinations.
The investigation also examined the role of TSR Data Processing Private Limited (TDPL) in the examination process.
The government had subsequently issued a wider notification affecting several recruitment examinations. According to the information presented before the court, 22 examinations were cancelled, six examination processes were placed on hold and 17 were brought under investigation.
The High Court’s intervention does not determine whether irregularities actually occurred. Instead, the immediate issue before the court is whether appointments already made can be cancelled without giving affected candidates an opportunity to respond and without following the required legal procedure.
High Court Order Puts Recruitment Cancellation on Hold
The court’s direction to reinstate the selected candidates is significant for those already serving in government posts.
By referring to due process and principles of natural justice, the court has indicated that administrative action affecting existing appointments must follow established legal safeguards.
The state government and JPSC will now have an opportunity to respond to the petitions and explain the basis for cancelling the examinations and appointments.
The final outcome could have wider implications for other recruitment processes affected by the government’s broader investigation. For now, however, the cancellation of the 11th to 13th JPSC examinations and the Food Safety Officer recruitment remains stayed until further orders from the High Court.
