JP Nadda’s Odisha Visit: Ayushman Bharat Launch and BJP Meeting

Published on

Bhubaneswar: In a significant move towards universal healthcare, Odisha is set to launch a comprehensive health insurance scheme on April 11, integrating benefits from both central and state programs.

With this rollout, Odisha will become the 34th state in the country to implement the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY). The state’s own Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana (GJAY) and the newly introduced Ayushman Vayo-Vandana Yojana, designed for senior citizens, will also be incorporated into the initiative.

The integrated scheme’s goal is to provide health insurance coverage to a significant portion of Odisha’s population:

Beneficiary families: Approximately 1.03 crore families will be covered, with 67.8 lakh families receiving benefits from AB-PMJAY and 35.8 lakh families receiving benefits from GJAY.

Individual beneficiaries: It is anticipated that the overlapping initiatives will benefit around 3.52 crore people in total.

Senior citizens: Ayushman Vayobandana Yojana is intended to help 23.12 lakh senior individuals who are 70 years of age or older receive the healthcare support they require as they age.

As part of his visit, JP Nadda will inaugurate the Ayushman Bharat and Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana in Cuttack before attending a three-day BJP workshop in Puri. The launch event, organized by the state government, marks a major milestone in improving healthcare accessibility for Odisha’s residents. During the workshop, Nadda will also address party members, offering strategic guidance to MLAs, MPs, and grassroots workers.

BJP State President Manmohan Samal highlighted the workshop’s role in aligning party members with the BJP’s core agenda. Nadda’s visit is expected to bolster the party’s presence in Odisha and emphasize developmental initiatives.

According to party sources, Nadda’s tour will include inaugurating various government projects, engaging with party workers, and holding strategic discussions with senior leaders to evaluate the political landscape ahead of the upcoming elections. He is also set to address a large gathering of party members and supporters, outlining BJP’s vision and future plans for the state. His visit is seen as a crucial step in mobilizing grassroots workers and gearing up for the electoral contest ahead.
