PIB Fact Check: Viral Video Claiming CDS General Anil Chauhan Praised Pakistan Army is Fake

Published on

A controversial video circulating on social media falsely suggests that India’s Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan admitted the supremacy of the Pakistan Army. The manipulated clip, widely shared by pro-Pakistani accounts, claims that General Chauhan said: “Never mess with Pakistan because their army appears to be far more superior and advanced.”

Did General Anil Chauhan Really Praise Pakistan Army?

The truth is that General Chauhan never made such remarks. The viral clip is a digitally altered video created using deepfake technology to mislead viewers. According to PIB Fact Check, the claim is entirely false and malicious, aimed at spreading misinformation regarding India’s military leadership.

What General Chauhan Actually Said During Ran Samvad Conclave

During his recent address at the Ran Samvad conclave, General Anil Chauhan delivered a very different message that focused on India’s preparedness and national security. He asserted: “We are a peace-loving nation, but don’t get mistaken, we cannot be pacifists. Peace without power is utopian. If you want peace, prepare for war.” His statement highlighted India’s resolve to safeguard its sovereignty, not praise Pakistan’s military.

PIB Fact Check Confirms Deepfake Video Circulated Online

The PIB Fact Check unit officially debunked the viral video, clarifying that the footage is fabricated and digitally manipulated. Authorities emphasized that citizens must rely only on verified official sources for sensitive information related to defence and security matters.

Warning Against Fake News and Propaganda Campaigns

Officials have warned that doctored videos are increasingly being used to mislead the public and spread propaganda on critical national security issues. The government urges citizens to exercise caution, verify information, and not fall prey to such misinformation campaigns aimed at creating confusion and distrust.
