PM Modi: India-Japan Technology Partnership to Lead Global Tech Revolution

Published on

Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized that the fusion of Japanese technology and Indian talent has the potential to drive the global technology revolution of this century. While addressing the India-Japan Economic Forum in Tokyo, he underlined that Japan stands as a technological powerhouse, whereas India represents a powerhouse of skilled talent.

Modi highlighted that India has already taken ambitious steps in sectors such as artificial intelligence (AI), semiconductors, biotechnology, quantum computing, and space research. He further revealed that after opening up the defence and space sectors, India is now opening its nuclear energy sector to private industry participation.

India Japan technology partnership is reshaping growth sectors

PM Modi stated that Japan has consistently been a vital partner in India’s developmental journey. From metro rail projects to large-scale manufacturing, from semiconductors to startups, the collaboration reflects a foundation of trust. Japanese companies have already invested over $40 billion in India. He added that the India Japan technology partnership has shown remarkable success in the automotive and manufacturing industries, and similar results can now be achieved in new fields such as shipbuilding, robotics, nuclear energy, advanced batteries, and semiconductor production.

India Japan technology partnership boosting Make in India

The Prime Minister also recalled the success of global companies like Suzuki, which became a model of Indo-Japanese cooperation. He urged international players to “Make in India, Make for the World,” pointing out that today’s India offers political stability, transparent policies, and strong economic growth. Modi stressed that India is already the fastest-growing major economy in the world and is on the path to becoming the third-largest economy globally. This transformation, he explained, is guided by the government’s principle of Reform, Perform, and Transform.

Japan reiterates commitment to deeper ties with India

Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba echoed Modi’s vision, saying that Japan’s advanced technology and India’s world-class talent are perfectly complementary, which is accelerating economic expansion between the two nations. He highlighted that many Japanese companies are actively contributing to the Make in India initiative and that the signing of new cooperation agreements reflects Japan’s determination to boost investments further.

Bilateral cooperation strengthening global supply chains

PM Ishiba underlined that both nations are working together to build resilient supply chains centred around India and Japan. This cooperation is expected to strengthen global economic stability while enhancing bilateral trust. He added that Japan sees India as a reliable partner for long-term collaboration in cutting-edge industries and infrastructure.
