PM Modi Pays Tribute to Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam: “Inspiring Visionary, Outstanding Scientist, Great Patriot”

Published on

New Delhi: On the death anniversary of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday paid heartfelt homage to the former President, calling him an inspiring visionary, outstanding scientist, and great patriot whose legacy continues to shape the aspirations of India’s youth.

Dr. Kalam, fondly remembered as the ‘Missile Man of India’, served as the 11th President of India from 2002 to 2007 and is widely respected for his scientific contributions, humility, and inclusive leadership.

PM Modi: “His Thoughts Motivate the Youth”

Taking to his official X handle, PM Modi wrote:

“On his death anniversary, paying homage to our beloved former President, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. He is remembered as an inspiring visionary, outstanding scientist, mentor, and a great patriot. His dedication to our nation was exemplary. His thoughts motivate the youth of India to contribute towards building a developed and strong India.”

PM Modi has consistently hailed Dr. Kalam as a “Rashtra Ratna” (Jewel of the Nation)—a rare title bestowed upon him by the people even before he became President.

Missile Man Who Empowered a Nation

Dr. Kalam played a pivotal role in shaping India’s defence and nuclear capabilities. As the architect of the Integrated Guided Missile Development Programme (IGMDP), he was instrumental in the development of the Agni and Prithvi missiles. He also spearheaded India’s nuclear success during the Pokhran-II nuclear tests in 1998.

A People’s President with a Passion for Youth

Popularly called the “People’s President”, Dr. Kalam had a deep commitment to youth empowerment and education. He remained active even post-presidency, delivering lectures and writing books to ignite young minds. Tragically, he passed away on July 27, 2015, after collapsing while addressing students at IIM Shillong.

Nation Pays Respects: Leaders Unite in Tribute

BJP National President J.P. Nadda also paid tribute:

“Dr. Kalam’s life is a remarkable saga of struggle and success. His unmatched contribution to making India a nuclear-powered nation is unforgettable. His thoughts and actions for national upliftment will always inspire us.”

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath echoed similar sentiments:

“His life, full of simplicity, dedication, and patriotism, is a divine inspiration. His illuminating thoughts in science, education, and innovation will continue to enlighten us all.”
