Sensex, Nifty 50 End Flat on Profit Booking: 10 Key Highlights from Indian Stock Market Today

Published on

Stock Market Today: The Indian stock market ended flat on Friday as Sensex and Nifty 50 gave up early gains due to profit booking. Concerns over US President Donald Trumpโ€™s new tariffs, foreign capital outflows, and global uncertainty kept investor sentiment cautious despite hopes of a US Fed rate cut.

At the close, the Sensex slipped 7 points to 80,710.76, while the Nifty 50 added 7 points to 24,741. The BSE Midcap index slipped 0.10%, while the Smallcap index edged higher by 0.09%.

Why Did Sensex and Nifty 50 End Flat Today?

The muted closing came largely on account of profit booking, with traders booking gains ahead of the weekend. Despite supportive global cues, fears over Trumpโ€™s tariff announcements weighed on markets.

Trump recently imposed secondary sanctions on India for purchasing Russian oil, while hinting at further steps under โ€œphase twoโ€ and โ€œphase three.โ€ Market experts said sentiment was mildly positive as indices rebounded from intraday lows, with strong mid- and small-cap participation.

Meanwhile, Vodafone Idea (171.9 crore shares), Ola Electric (47.5 crore shares), and YES Bank (9 crore shares) were the most active on NSE by volume.

Nifty 50 Technical Outlook

According to experts, Nifty 50 is trading in a 24,500โ€“24,900 range. A breakout above 25,000 could push the index towards 25,200โ€“25,250, while a breakdown below 24,400 may trigger a decline towards 24,000.

Brokerages suggest a buy-on-dips, sell-on-rallies strategy as markets remain range-bound with stock-specific opportunities dominating.
