Following the inauguration ceremony, there will be two significant working sessions: one on ‘Film Tourism for Economic Growth and Cultural Preservation,’ focused on measures to promote film tourism, and another on ‘Ecotourism,’ concentrating on ecotourism. There is also time set out for bilateral meetings between the delegates.

In an interview with a national news agency today, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh stated that the fact that the G20 meeting is being held in Srinagar is an indication of the change that has occurred over the last 9 years, particularly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ground-breaking initiatives.

The Minister stated that it will be a full-fledged, healthy G 20 meeting, just like any other. This is also an indicator that Jammu and Kashmir as a whole, and particularly Kashmir Valley, which was once thought to be a kind of nerve centre of terrorism and militancy, is now in the same strea m of activity as any other metropolis in the country. The Minister stressed that the event in Srinagar, like any other G20 event, was very professionally planned.

Soft events have also been included during the delegates’ stay in Kashmir. One of them is dedicated to films and is hosted by the Government of India’s Department of Tourism. Some well-known movie stars may also attend. Another event is being organised by the administration of the UT of J&K to emphasise the different facets and beauty of Kashmir, which is considered as the Paradise on Earth. A cultural programme has also been planned.

Dr. Jitendra Singh stated that it was once forbidden to enter Jammu and Kashmir, and that such incidents had largely ceased since 1990. But, as of now, the G20 summit in Srinagar is the most anticipated of all the G20 gatherings held around the country. The fact that the site is Srinagar itself adds an extra atmosphere and energy, he said.
