Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today received a telephone call from the President of the French Republic, H.E. Emmanuel Macron. During the conversation, the two leaders held wide-ranging discussions on ongoing global conflicts and ways to reinforce bilateral ties.

PM Modi and President Macron Discuss Peaceful Resolution of Conflicts

Prime Minister Modi and President Macron exchanged views on the situation in Ukraine and the West Asia region. President Macron shared his assessment of the recent high-level meetings held in Washington between leaders of Europe, the United States, and Ukraine. He also conveyed his perspective on the humanitarian crisis and ongoing developments in Gaza.

India Reaffirms Support for Peace and Stability

Reiterating India’s long-standing position, Prime Minister Modi emphasized India’s consistent support for peaceful resolution of conflicts and the early restoration of peace and stability in all affected regions. India continues to advocate dialogue and diplomacy as the only way forward.

India-France Strategic Partnership to Get Stronger

The two leaders reviewed progress in bilateral cooperation, covering sectors such as trade, defence, civil nuclear energy, technology, and clean energy. They reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen the India-France strategic partnership, with 2026 being marked as the ‘Year of Innovation’ to celebrate collaboration in cutting-edge sectors.

Push for India-EU Free Trade Agreement

President Macron expressed his strong support for the early conclusion of the Free Trade Agreement between India and the European Union. Both leaders agreed to remain in close contact on regional and global issues while accelerating efforts to deepen economic and strategic ties.
