Senior CPI Leader Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy Passes Away at 83 in Hyderabad

Veteran Communist leader and former Member of Parliament, Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy, passed away in Hyderabad late last evening while receiving treatment at a private hospital. He was 83. A towering figure in the Communist Party of India (CPI), Reddy served as the party’s General Secretary from 2012 to 2019 and was admired for his lifelong dedication to workers’ rights and social justice.

Political Journey of Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy

Born in Mahbubnagar district, Reddy began his political career as a student leader in Kurnool. Over the years, his active participation in the CPI and his leadership qualities elevated him to national prominence, where he went on to serve as the General Secretary of the party for seven years.

Twice Elected to Parliament from Nalgonda

Sudhakar Reddy represented the Nalgonda constituency in the Lok Sabha twice, first in 1998 and again in 2004. His tenure as a parliamentarian was marked by his articulate advocacy for farmers, workers, and marginalized sections of society, earning him wide respect across party lines.
