Casualties and Rescues

On Friday, five people lost their lives and at least 11 remain missing following heavy rainfall in Rudraprayag, Chamoli, and Bageshwar districts.

In Basukedar tehsil of Rudraprayag, more than 200 residents were rescued and relocated to safer areas after flash floods triggered by incessant rain.

Gangotri Highway Partially Reopened

Nearly 25 days after a massive landslide struck Dharali on August 5, the Gangotri Highway has been partially reopened for traffic between Uttarkashi and Harsil.

Officials said full restoration is expected soon, which will significantly speed up the delivery of essential supplies and aid to stranded areas.

Authorities have urged residents to avoid unnecessary travel, stay away from riverbanks, and follow official advisories closely.
