For the first time, the organisers have instituted the Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra Kala Samman, aimed at honouring established artistes in the age group of 40 to 55 years. This recognition addresses the need to value seasoned performers who have evolved into accomplished teachers and cultural ambassadors.

The Kala Samman 2025, carrying a cash award of ₹50,000 and a citation, will be conferred upon Arnab Bandyopadhyay and Raghunath Das, both from the field of Odissi dance.

Festival performances to celebrate Odissi heritage

The five-day festival will feature several cultural highlights. The inaugural evening will open with a spellbinding Odissi recital by mother-daughter duo Sujata Mohapatra and Preetisha, who will present Satyakama Jabala. The evening will conclude with the Srjan ensemble’s premiere of ‘Duryodhana’, adding grandeur to the celebrations.

Instituted in memory of the legendary Odissi maestro Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra, the award continues to uphold the rich tradition of Odissi dance and music. By honouring both emerging and established artistes, the festival reinforces Odisha’s cultural heritage on a national stage.
