Amit Shah Pays Tribute on Hyderabad Liberation Day: Martyrs’ Courage Still Inspires India

Published on

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday conveyed heartfelt greetings to the nation on the occasion of Hyderabad Liberation Day. He emphasized that the unshakable courage of the martyrs and the vision they cherished continue to motivate India on its path of progress.

The day is observed to mark the historic merger of the former princely state of Hyderabad, once ruled by the Nizam, with the Indian Union on September 17, 1948. Shah underlined that Hyderabad Liberation Day symbolizes the unmatched patriotism of the people of the region, which now includes Telangana, parts of Karnataka, and the Marathwada region of Maharashtra.

Hyderabad Liberation Day and Its Historical Importance

Amit Shah highlighted that the people of Hyderabad had endured severe oppression under the Nizam’s regime and the Razakars’ brutality. Despite such adversities, they stood firm and fought with unparalleled determination to free their land and ensure India remained united.

Operation Polo: The Turning Point in Hyderabad Liberation Day

On September 17, 1948, the Indian government, under the leadership of then Home Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, launched a military action called Operation Polo. This decisive move led to the annexation of Hyderabad into the Union of India, putting an end to the Nizam’s resistance and Razakars’ militia activities.

Role of the People in Hyderabad Liberation Day

The people of the Hyderabad state played a critical role during this period. While Razakars attempted to push for either merging with Pakistan or declaring a Muslim dominion, the citizens resisted and fought valiantly for integration with India. Their sacrifices laid the foundation of a united and progressive nation.

Amit Shah’s Tribute to the Martyrs of Hyderabad Liberation Day

Paying tribute to the fallen heroes, Amit Shah said, “I bow to the martyrs whose courage continues to inspire and dreams continue to drive our nation towards the peak of progress.” His message served as a reminder of the sacrifices that led to India’s unity and the unwavering spirit of those who fought for liberation.
