Centre Releases ₹240.80 Crore Additional Flood Relief for Punjab, Says Ravneet Singh Bittu

Published on

New Delhi: Union Minister of State for Railways, Ravneet Singh Bittu, has affirmed that the Central Government is fully committed to standing with Punjab during the ongoing flood crisis. In a recent social media post, Bittu announced that the Centre has released an additional ₹240.80 crore to Punjab’s State Disaster Relief Fund (SDRF), reinforcing its unwavering support for the state and its people.

He highlighted that this funding is in addition to the ₹1,600 crore flood relief package earlier announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, showing the Centre’s determination to provide continued assistance for flood-affected regions of Punjab.

Punjab Flood Relief Fund Strengthened by Central Support

According to Ravneet Singh Bittu, this additional allocation from the Centre to the Punjab flood relief fund emphasizes the priority given by the government to ensure quick recovery and effective rehabilitation. He said the move reflects the Centre’s deep concern for Punjab during this difficult period.

Centre’s ₹1,600 Crore Flood Relief Already Announced

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had declared a massive ₹1,600 crore relief package for Punjab to tackle the flood situation. The latest additional ₹240.80 crore is seen as further evidence of the Centre’s proactive measures to ensure adequate financial resources for relief and restoration.

Punjab Flood Relief Fund Linked to Finance Commission Recommendation

This release of central funds has been made in accordance with the recommendation of the 15th Finance Commission for the financial year 2025–26. The allocation to the State Disaster Relief Fund ensures that Punjab has sufficient resources to carry out flood management, rehabilitation, and support for affected citizens.

Ravneet Singh Bittu Reassures Punjab of Continued Support

Reiterating the Centre’s commitment, Ravneet Singh Bittu said the additional aid is not just financial assistance but also a reflection of the solidarity the Union Government holds with Punjab in times of natural disasters.
