Odisha Government Launches “Ama Sathi” WhatsApp Chatbot Offering 120 Citizen Services

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Friday unveiled a unified WhatsApp chatbot called “Ama Sathi”, enabling citizens to conveniently access more than 100 essential government services through a single platform. With this launch, Odisha has become the second state in India after Andhra Pradesh to introduce such a digital citizen service in partnership with META.

Odisha’s Ama Sathi WhatsApp chatbot offers 120 services

The Ama Sathi chatbot, jointly developed by the Centre for Modernizing Government Initiative (CMGI) and META India, provides over 120 citizen services through WhatsApp. Some key services include:

  • Birth and income certificates
  • Driving licenses
  • Fertilizer licenses
  • Inter-Caste Marriage Benefit Scheme
  • National Family Benefit Scheme

This initiative integrates crucial services from housing, urban development, education, agriculture, police, land records, and revenue into a single digital assistant.

WhatsApp number and language options for Ama Sathi chatbot

Citizens can access the Ama Sathi WhatsApp chatbot by messaging 9437292000. The service is available in both Odia and English, making it inclusive for diverse users across the state.

The chatbot also supports voice command features, enhancing ease of use for citizens who may not be comfortable typing.

Chief Secretary highlights transparency and inclusivity

At the launch event, Odisha Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja said the chatbot represents a major step toward transparent and citizen-friendly governance. He highlighted that the initiative ensures easy access to services in both urban and rural areas.

On the same occasion, the Chief Secretary also launched the dynamic dashboard of the Central Monitoring System (CMS) under the Odisha Right to Public Services Act, strengthening the state’s commitment to transparent governance.

The Ama Sathi WhatsApp chatbot is part of the state’s larger push towards technology-driven, transparent, and inclusive governance. By offering over 120 government services in one platform, the initiative eliminates multiple layers of bureaucracy and empowers citizens with simple and effective access to public services.
