President Murmu landed at Veer Surendra Sai Airport in Jharsuguda aboard a special aircraft and later traveled to Rourkela via an Indian Air Force helicopter.

She received a ceremonial welcome from Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, and Union Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram. Senior administrative officials, police personnel, and dignitaries were also present, reflecting the importance of the visit.

This marks her first visit to Rourkela since taking office, adding symbolic value to the occasion.

Major civic projects inaugurated under Rourkela One initiative

During her visit, the President is inaugurating the “Rourkela One Project” at Civil Township—an integrated development initiative aimed at modernizing urban governance and enhancing civic amenities.

The project includes:

  • A tribal museum showcasing regional heritage
  • A modern auditorium for cultural and public events

Additionally, she will virtually launch a large recreational park at Koel Nagar and a state-of-the-art planetarium at Chhend Colony, further strengthening Rourkela’s urban infrastructure.
