Hindol: A Dhenkanal elephant attack has left a 55-year-old man died of a heart attack in Kumurusinga village under the Hindol forest range after seeing an elephant in the early hours of Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Purnachandra Dehuri, son of Pranabandhu Dehury. According to the villagers, he came outside his house after hearing noise about an elephant moving through the village.
Dhenkanal Elephant Attack Triggers Panic in Village
According to villagers, the elephant entered Kumurusinga at around 1 am and moved along a village road.
After hearing the commotion, Purnachandra reportedly opened the door of his house and stepped outside. The elephant was nearby, and the situation quickly turned dangerous.
Family members immediately took him by ambulance to Hindol Sub-Divisional Hospital. Doctors at the hospital declared him brought dead.

The incident has caused deep distress in the village, particularly because Purnachandra was reportedly the family’s main earning member.
