Kendrapada: Odisha Vigilance has arrested Anupama Sahoo, Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) of the Drainage Division in Kendrapada, after intercepting her with suspected unaccounted cash of Rs 3.15 lakh.

Sahoo was intercepted at Marshaghai Crossing on NH-53A while travelling from her office towards her residential house at Nayanvihar, Kendrapada, in an official Mahindra Bolero bearing registration number OD-29-S-6644.

According to Odisha Vigilance, she could not satisfactorily account for the cash found in her possession. The money and vehicle were seized, and a vigilance case was registered.

Odisha Vigilance Anupama Sahoo Arrest Case

Following the interception, simultaneous searches were conducted at Sahoo’s residential building at Nayanvihar in Kendrapada and her office chamber.

During the house search, Vigilance officials reportedly recovered and seized another Rs 4 lakh in cash. This took the total cash seizure in the case to Rs 7.15 lakh.

A case has been registered at Kataka Vigilance Police Station under Case No. 35 dated September 5, 2026, under Section 13(2) read with Section 13(1)(b) of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.

Properties and Deposits Found During Search

According to the Vigilance department, searches also identified several movable and immovable assets in Sahoo’s name.

The assets listed by the department include:

  • Deposits of Rs 63 lakh
  • One flat in Bhubaneswar
  • One MS rod and cement godown at a market complex in Kamakshyanagar, Dhenkanal
  • One shop in Balangir
  • Five plots, including one on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar, three in Anugola and one in Dhenkanal

Sahoo was arrested and forwarded to the Special Judge, Vigilance, Kataka. The investigation remains in progress.

Anupama Sahoo’s Government Service Record

The Vigilance department said Sahoo joined government service as a Junior Engineer (JE) on October 21, 2003, under the Anugola Irrigation Division, with an initial monthly salary of Rs 4,000.

Her service was regularised in 2009. She was promoted to Assistant Engineer on December 31, 2016, and posted at the Dhenkanal Design and Monitoring Unit, Rengali Right Canal.

On August 12, 2025, Sahoo was promoted to Assistant Executive Engineer. She was later transferred to the Drainage Division, Kendrapada, on March 2, 2026, where she continued to serve as AEE.

The Vigilance investigation is continuing, and further details are expected as the case progresses.
