Marion Biotech stops producing Dok 1 Max cough syrup, CDSCO Inspects

New Delhi: There have been reports from Uzbekistan of contaminated Dok 1 Max cough syrup from Indian company Marion Biotech, NOIDA, Uttar Pradesh. From December 27, 2022, the Central Standard Drug Control Organization (CDSCO) as per the directives of the Union Minister of Health, Family Welfare and Chemicals and Fertilizers Dr. Mansukha Mandaviya in regular contact with the national drug regulator of Uzbekistan on this matter.

Immediately after receiving the information, a joint inspection of the NOIDA facility of the manufacturer Marion Biotech was conducted by UP Drug Control and CDSCO team and further appropriate action would be initiated based on the inspection report.

Marion Biotech is a licensed manufacturer and holds a license to manufacture Dok1 Max Syrup and Tablets for export purposes granted by the Drugs Controller, Uttar Pradesh.

Dok 1 Max Cough syrups exported to Uzbekistan, not sold in India

Samples of the cough syrup were collected from the manufacturing premises and sent for testing to the Regional Drug Testing Laboratory (RDTL), Chandigarh.

Also Police are seen at the gate of the offices of Marion Biotech, Production of Marion Biotech’s Dok-1 Max has stopped “for now,” a company lawyer said Thursday, as the Central Drug Standards Control Organization opened an investigation into the deaths of 18 children in Uzbekistan allegedly linked to the cough syrup.
