Rahul Gandhi: Opposition parties uniting to defeat the BJP

Published on

PATNA: Rahul Gandhi, the head of the Congress, declared on Friday that the opposition parties will work together to defeat the BJP in the general elections of 2024. He asserted that a conflict existed between his party’s “‘Bharat Jodo’ ideology and the BJP’s “Bharat Todo” thinking.”

He also asserted that the Congress would win the upcoming elections in Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Telangana, underscoring the value of cooperation within the party ranks.

He claimed that there was an ideological battle taking place in India and accused the BJP of trying to “divide India and spread hate and violence”.

Rahul Gandhi said this while addressing a large crowd of Congress members and leaders at the party’s headquarters in the Sadaqat Ashram. “On the one hand, there is the Congress’ ‘Bharat Jodo’ ideology and on the other hand, there is the BJP and RSS’ ‘Bharat Todo’ thinking,” he said.

The DNA of the Congress is in Bihar, according to the former party chief, and that’s why we come here. “All the Opposition parties have come here, and together we are going to defeat the BJP,” he declared.

Top opposition party leaders met in Patna on Friday to plot out a strategy for creating an anti-BJP front ahead of the general elections in 2024. Nitish Kumar, the JD(U) chief minister of Bihar, and Tejashwi Yadav, the RJD’s deputy, held the meeting.

Gandhi claimed that BJP leaders made speeches and travelled all throughout Karnataka, “but the result is there for you to see”.

“The BJP vanished from Karnataka as soon as the Congress united. Gandhi asserted, “I am saying it from this stage that the BJP will be nowhere in Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh and the Congress will win,” adding, “We stand with the poor.”

He responded, “You know it very well that hate cannot be addressed with hate. The Congress is working to bring people together and preach love. We struggle against hate because only love can defeat it.

The former head of the Congress party asserted that the entire nation is aware that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP only benefit two to three people and are “handing over the entire country’s wealth to them.”

“The Congress means standing with the poor, meeting them, hugging them, and working for them,” he said.

Gandhi began his address by asking Congress workers “How is the mood”, to which they replied, “It is good”. He thanked them for their contribution and support to the Bharat Jodo Yatra.

Bihari with us: Rahul Gandhi

“I used to ask folks where they were from in every state (during the yatra). Many people used to claim, “I’m from Bihar.” Everywhere we went, we had Bihari with us: in Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Maharashtra. You supported us along the way because you deeply comprehend and support our ideology.

“I want to remind Congress employees that you are our ‘Babbar Sher (lion)’ in Bihar and every other state, too. You fight for a philosophy, and the Congress’s responsibility is to defend you. Rahul Gandhi told the party members, “It is our responsibility as leaders to defend the Congress workers.

Later in a tweet in Hindi, Gandhi said, “We, the ones who unite India, will defeat those who divide India.”

Gandhi along with Congress chief Kharge and a host of other party leaders participated in the Opposition meeting to chart a roadmap to take on the BJP in the 2024 general elections.
