New Delhi: On Wednesday, President Droupadi Murmu was briefed by the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) and the heads of the three armed forces regarding the planning and execution of Operation Sindoor, which was carried out between May 7 and 10. The briefing highlighted how the operation was conducted with minimal collateral damage and successfully achieved its strategic objectives in response to the Pahalgam terror attack. The operation targeted locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), according to official sources.
Following the meeting, Rashtrapati Bhavan stated, “The President praised the courage and commitment of the armed forces, calling India’s counterterrorism response a remarkable success.”
This briefing came a day after the CDS and service chiefs had also informed military veterans and members of think tanks about the operation, which began in the early hours of May 7. During the operation, India struck nine terrorist camps across Pakistan and PoK, reportedly eliminating over 100 militants. In the days leading up to the ceasefire on May 10, the Indian Air Force (IAF) also targeted several military installations in Pakistan.
A detailed one-hour session held at the Manekshaw Centre in Delhi Cantt for veterans covered all facets of the mission. Officials emphasized that the operation was a textbook example of modern, multi-domain warfare involving exceptional coordination and joint action among the forces.
On May 9, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hosted a meeting with military veterans at his residence, just one day before the ceasefire took effect. That ceasefire agreement, reached by the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs) of India and Pakistan, came into force at 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 10, halting military activity on land, air, and sea. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining the truce during a follow-up conversation on May 12, agreeing not to fire a single shot.
In a parallel effort to counter international narratives, Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) chief Lieutenant General DS Rana briefed military attachés from 70 countries on the success of Operation Sindoor. He emphasized that India’s military response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack had established a “new normal” in its dealings with Pakistan.
Rana pointed out that the operation demonstrated India’s technological edge, strategic resolve, and military dominance in new domains of warfare. Prime Minister Modi echoed this sentiment during his visit to the Adampur airbase on Tuesday, stating that the strike on what he called Pakistan’s “universities of terror” had clearly redefined India’s red lines on terrorism. “India’s message is loud and clear—any future terror attack will be met with a decisive response,” he said, adding that Operation Sindoor was a powerful demonstration of India’s military strength.
Modi’s visit to Adampur was particularly significant because it directly countered Pakistan’s false claims of having attacked multiple Indian military targets—including Adampur—during the conflict. Pakistan had alleged it had destroyed S-400 air defence systems, damaged runways, hit fighter aircraft, and targeted radar systems at the base. These claims were dismissed as disinformation by Indian authorities.
