Odisha CM Launches ‘Digital Hundi’ for Online Donations to Jagannath Temple

Published on

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Friday launched the ‘Digital Hundi’, a dedicated online donation platform for Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri. The initiative is designed to make offerings easier for devotees across India and abroad, allowing them to contribute without visiting the temple in person.

Inauguration at State Secretariat

The Digital Hundi was inaugurated at Lok Seva Bhawan in Bhubaneswar. Speaking at the launch, the Chief Minister highlighted the significance of the platform, noting that many devotees had previously faced challenges in donating online. “With Digital Hundi, this problem has been resolved,” he said.

QR Code-Based Donations for Easy Access

The system facilitates donations through QR codes available on the official Shree Jagannath Temple website. In collaboration with the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), banks will also be able to set up QR code kiosks outside the temple and at key public locations in Puri, such as ATM counters and bank branches.

A Blend of Devotion and Digital India

CM Majhi emphasized that the purpose of the Digital Hundi goes beyond fundraising—it honors the faith and devotion of those unable to visit Puri during major festivals like Rath Yatra. “This platform enables them to make offerings from wherever they are,” he stated, calling it a step aligned with the Digital India mission.

Secure and Transparent Donation System

The platform has been developed with strong security features to ensure safe processing of donations, while preserving the sanctity of the temple’s traditions and offerings.

Strong Tradition of Giving Among Devotees

According to official figures, Shree Jagannath Temple received ₹113.02 crore in donations over the past three financial years (2021–22, 2022–23, and 2023–24), reflecting the enduring devotion and generosity of Lord Jagannath’s followers.
