Manmohan Samal Re-Elected as Odisha BJP President for Fourth Term

Published on

Bhubaneswar: Senior BJP leader Manmohan Samal has been re-elected unopposed as the President of the Odisha BJP unit, marking his fourth consecutive term at the helm. The announcement was made by Sanjay Jaiswal, the election observer, during a formal declaration at the BJP state headquarters in Bhubaneswar.

Unanimous Support Reflects Party Confidence

No other candidate filed nomination papers for the top post, highlighting the strong internal support and widespread confidence Samal commands within the party. He had submitted his nomination on Monday in the presence of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, central observers, and senior BJP leaders.

With this re-election, Samal is set to play a key role in consolidating the party’s organisational base, enhancing its grassroots network, and sustaining the momentum following the BJP’s historic win in the 2024 Odisha Assembly elections.

Veteran Leader With Deep Roots in Odisha Politics

Born on April 15, 1959, in Bhadrak district, Manmohan Samal is a seasoned politician and an alumnus of Bhadrak College, where he began his political journey as student union president in 1979. His early involvement with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) laid the foundation for his rise in the BJP.

Samal has previously served as Odisha’s Revenue Minister and Minister of Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare, and was elected as MLA from Dhamnagar in 2004.

His strategic leadership is widely seen as a driving force behind the BJP’s victory in the 2024 Assembly Elections, which ended the 24-year rule of the Biju Janata Dal (BJD). Under his guidance, the party executed effective grassroots mobilisation, expanded its base, and successfully communicated its message to voters.

Samal’s continued presidency is expected to cement BJP’s governance in Odisha and prepare the party for future electoral challenges with a strong, cohesive strategy.
