Heavy Rainfall Alert in Odisha for Next 4 Days, IMD Issues Orange Warning

Published on

Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast continuous rainfall in Odisha over the next four days, with heavy to very heavy showers expected in several parts of the state. On Wednesday, an orange warning has been issued for five districts, signaling the likelihood of intense rainfall activity.

Orange Warning for Heavy to Very Heavy Rainfall

The IMD has placed five districts under an orange alert, though specific district names were not immediately available. Residents in these areas are advised to take precautions against possible waterlogging, flash floods, or disruptions in daily activities.

Weather Systems Behind the Rains

The current spell of rainfall is attributed to a deep depression over North Jharkhand and southern Bihar, which is now weakening and expected to become a well-marked low-pressure area. Simultaneously, another low-pressure system is active over the northeastern Bay of Bengal, further contributing to the wet weather conditions across Odisha.

Rainfall Likely to Intensify

With both systems influencing the regional weather, the intensity of rainfall may increase, particularly in coastal and interior districts of Odisha. The IMD has advised people to stay updated through official bulletins and avoid unnecessary travel during heavy rainfall hours.
