Bihar Elections 2025: The Congress party on Monday released another list of six candidates for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, taking its total announced candidates to 60. The announcement came post-midnight as the party continues to face challenges in finalizing a seat-sharing agreement with ally Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) under the Mahagathbandhan alliance.
According to the new list, Surendra Prasad Kushwaha has been fielded from Valmiki Nagar, Abidur Rehman from Araria, Jalil Mastan from Amour, Tauquir Alam from Barari, Praveen Singh Kushwaha from Kahalgaon, and Vinod Chaudhary from Sikandra (SC).
Despite ongoing alliance talks, both Congress and RJD have continued to distribute party symbols to their candidates. The lack of consensus between the two major partners of the INDIA bloc has led to visible cracks within the alliance, with several disgruntled aspirants in both parties accusing their leadership of favoritism and ticket mismanagement.
The Congress had earlier released its first list of 48 candidates on Thursday, which included state unit chief Rajesh Ram from Kutumba and CLP leader Shakeel Ahmad Khan from Kadwa. On Friday, it announced Rishi Mishra from Jale in a single-seat release, followed by another list of five candidates on Saturday.
The last date for filing nomination papers for the second and final phase of the Bihar Assembly elections is Monday. Voting will be held in two phases on November 6 and 11, with counting scheduled for November 14.
