Former CIA Officer John Kiriakou Says Pakistan Will Lose Any Conventional War with India

Published on

John Kiriakou, a former CIA officer who served for 15 years and led counterterrorism operations in Pakistan, has stated that Pakistan would lose any conventional war with India. Speaking in an interview with ANI, Kiriakou emphasized that conflict between the two nations would yield no benefits for Pakistan.

Pakistan Will Lose a Conventional War: Former CIA Officer John Kiriakou

“Nothing, literally nothing good will come of an actual war between India and Pakistan because the Pakistanis will lose. It’s as simple as that. They’ll lose. I’m not talking about nuclear weapons — I’m talking just about a conventional war. So there is no benefit to constantly provoking Indians,” Kiriakou said.

Pentagon Allegedly Controls Pakistan’s Nuclear Arsenal

The former CIA officer also revealed that during his posting in Pakistan in 2002, he was unofficially informed that the Pentagon controlled Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal. “I doubt that the Americans ever told India that the control of Pakistani nukes also lies with the US because of the vociferousness with which the Pakistanis have publicly maintained that they control their own nuclear weapons,” he added.

India’s Firm Response to Nuclear Threats and Terrorism

Kiriakou highlighted India’s stance on nuclear blackmail and terrorism, noting that the country has consistently responded decisively. He cited India’s surgical strikes in Jammu and Kashmir in 2016, the Balakot airstrikes in 2019, and Operation Sindoor targeting terror infrastructure as examples of India’s firm action against terrorism.

He also touched upon Abdul Qadeer Khan, the Pakistani nuclear physicist, saying that the US could have neutralized him using an Israeli-style approach but refrained due to his backing by Saudi Arabia.

About John Kiriakou

Kiriakou spent the first half of his CIA career in analysis and the second half in counterterrorism operations. In 2007, he became known for exposing the CIA’s torture program through a televised interview, which led to legal charges later dropped.
