India’s Smartphone Exports Soar 58% to $7.72 Billion in Q1 FY26, Apple Leads with $6 Billion

Published on

India smartphone exports reached a historic high in the first quarter of FY2025-26, with shipments surging to $7.72 billion, marking a 58% year-on-year increase from $4.9 billion in Q1 FY25. The explosive growth was led by Apple Inc., which exported iPhones worth $6 billion through its contract manufacturers — an 82% jump compared to the same period last year.

India Smartphone Exports Driven by Apple’s Dominance

Apple alone contributed nearly 78% of India’s total smartphone exports in the quarter. The U.S.-based tech giant has ramped up its manufacturing in India via key partners like Foxconn and Wistron under the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme.

  • Apple’s FY25 full-year exports: $17.5 billion
  • Apple’s Q1 FY26 exports: $6 billion

Other notable contributors include:

  • Padget Electronics (Dixon Technologies subsidiary): $175 million
  • Samsung: 12% share of total smartphone exports

PLI Scheme Boosts India Smartphone Exports Growth

India’s mobile exports have seen dramatic growth over the past few years:

  • FY21: $3.1 billion
  • FY25: $24.1 billion

The PLI scheme, launched in 2020, has been pivotal in accelerating India’s journey to becoming a global smartphone manufacturing hub by incentivizing large-scale production and exports.
