Ahmedabad: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday began his visit to areas along the international border in Gujarat’s Kutch district as part of an extensive review of border security infrastructure and operational preparedness.

The visit is part of Shah’s ongoing tour of India’s border regions, aimed at assessing security arrangements and interacting with officials and personnel deployed in sensitive frontier areas.

Amit Shah Visits Strategic Border Locations

Shah headed to the border sector in the morning and inaugurated the G-7 Border Outpost, an important installation managed by the Border Security Force.

During the visit, he is scheduled to inspect the control room at OP Tower 1170 and review surveillance and operational systems deployed in the region.

He will also visit the strategically important Harami Nalla creek area, one of the most challenging terrains along the Indo-Pak border. According to officials, Shah is expected to plant a sapling at a jetty point during the visit.

The second-order effect of such high-level security reviews often includes accelerated infrastructure upgrades, enhanced surveillance capabilities and improved coordination among border security agencies.

Security Review Meeting With BSF Officials

Later in the day, the Home Minister will chair a comprehensive review meeting on border security and interact with BSF personnel stationed in the region.

Officials said discussions are expected to focus on:

  • Border surveillance
  • Operational preparedness
  • Infrastructure development
  • Personnel welfare
  • Emerging security challenges

The visit comes amid continued efforts by the government to strengthen border management and security along sensitive frontiers.

Tour Began in Rajasthan

Before arriving in Gujarat, Shah visited the BSF border outpost at Sanchu in Bikaner.

During that visit, he attended the Prahari Sammelan, virtually inaugurated barracks for women personnel and reviewed security arrangements with senior BSF officers.

Eastern Border Visit Planned Next Month

Officials indicated that Shah is likely to continue his border review programme with visits to India’s eastern frontier.

His proposed itinerary includes:

  • Tripura on June 5
  • West Bengal thereafter

The visits are expected to focus on border management, security infrastructure and interactions with personnel deployed along the India-Bangladesh border.
