In a significant move, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy announced plans to introduce a new law aimed at ensuring government employees take responsibility for their parents. The law will mandate a 10 per cent salary deduction from any government employee found neglecting their parents, and the amount will be directly deposited into the parents’ bank accounts.

Telangana New Law for Neglecting Parents: A Step Toward Family Responsibility

While distributing appointment letters to 783 newly selected Group II officers, CM Revanth Reddy made the announcement, emphasising the moral duty of every officer to care for their parents. He reminded the officers that their parents’ sacrifices and support had paved the way for their success. The Chief Minister also instructed the Chief Secretary to form a committee, including the new officers, to draft the detailed rules for the proposed law.

CM Highlights Importance of Gratitude and Service

Revanth Reddy urged officers to remember their humble beginnings and to serve society with compassion. He said, “As government officials, never forget the parents who carried you on their shoulders, turning their blood into sweat to support you. It is your duty to develop the village where you were born and raised.” His statement highlighted the emotional and ethical connection between family values and public service.

Telangana’s Initiative Reflects a New Social Reform

The proposed legislation on the Telangana new law for neglecting parents stands as a unique step in strengthening family ties and social responsibility. The Chief Minister’s initiative aims to encourage respect for parents and ensure their welfare through legal means. It also reflects a larger effort by the Telangana government to integrate moral accountability into public administration.

A Call for Compassionate Governance

CM Revanth Reddy concluded by reminding officers to act with empathy and dedication. He stated that when citizens in need approach them, they should treat each one as they would their own parents. The move has been widely appreciated as a blend of administrative reform and social welfare, reinforcing the importance of gratitude and responsibility among government employees.
