Bhubaneswar: The Odisha heatwave temperature rise has triggered fresh alerts as several districts record soaring temperatures close to 40°C. Interior and western regions are facing the brunt of the heat, with conditions expected to worsen over the next few days.
Weather officials warn that the current trend could lead to prolonged heatwave-like conditions, increasing health risks, especially for vulnerable groups.
Odisha Heatwave Temperature Rise Intensifies Across Districts
Titilagarh recorded the highest temperature at 39.5°C, followed by Boudh at 39.3°C and Paralakhemundi at 39.0°C.
According to IMD data, around 30 locations across Odisha have already crossed the 35°C mark, indicating widespread heat stress.
Interior and western districts are experiencing more severe conditions due to dry weather patterns and lack of cloud cover.
IMD Forecast Warns of Further Temperature Spike
The India Meteorological Department has predicted a further increase of 4 to 6°C in maximum temperatures over the next 4 to 5 days.
This means several regions may soon cross the 40°C threshold, pushing the state into full heatwave conditions.
For Bhubaneswar, temperatures are expected to hover around 38°C during the day and 26°C at night, with partly cloudy skies offering little relief.
Health Advisory During Odisha Heatwave Temperature Rise
The Regional Meteorological Centre has urged people to take precautions as heat intensity rises.
Outdoor workers, children, and elderly individuals are at higher risk and should avoid direct sun exposure between 11 am and 4 pm.
Staying hydrated, wearing light clothing, and limiting outdoor activities during peak hours are essential to prevent heat-related illnesses.
