According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Wind warnings have been issued along and off the shores of Saurashtra and Kutch. On June 11, squally winds of 40-50 kmph are expected in Kutch, Devbhumi Dwarka, Porbandar, Jamnagar, Rajkot, Junagarh, and Morbi districts, as well as the Gulf of Kutch.

Wind speeds are expected to steadily increase over the next three days, culminating in gale winds of 120-130 kmph gusting to 145 kmph on June 15 morning. On June 11, sea conditions are forecast to improve dramatically throughout the east-central and bordering west-central and northeast Arabian Seas.

This severity is expected to develop over the northeast and adjacent centre Arabian Sea by June 12 and over the northeast and adjacent northwest and central Arabian Sea by June 13. The sea conditions are expected to remain severe over the next two days, particularly across the northeast and northwest Arabian Seas, with adjacent locations also affected.

On June 15, several Gujarat districts, including Kutch, Devbhumi Dwarka, Porbandar, Jamnagar, Morbi, Junagarh, and Rajkot, may suffer damage. Demolition of thatched and kutcha houses, damage to pucca houses, uprooting of power and communication poles, and potential dangers from flying objects are all expected.

Furthermore, transportation infrastructure may be interrupted, and substantial crop, plantation, and orchard damage is likely. Visibility will be substantially reduced in certain locations, putting small boats and crafts at risk.

Fishermen have been advised to halt all operations in the east-central and adjacent west-central Arabian Seas till June 15, as well as in the north and adjacent central Arabian Seas from June 12 to June 15. Those who are currently at sea have been encouraged to return to shore. To ensure safety, the local populace and industries have been urged to take the required preparations, such as evacuation from coastal areas, prudent restriction of rail, road, and sea traffic, and staying indoors.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has delegated advance planning and disaster management to senior state cabinet ministers. These ministers will advise and support the district systems.

The assigned ministers are as follows: Rishikesh Patel for Kutch District, Praful Bhai Pansheriya and Kanubhai Desai for Morbi, Raghavji Patel for Rajkot District, Kuvarji Bavaliya for Porbandar, Mulu Bhai Bera for Jamnagar District, Harsh Sanghavi for Devbhumi Dwarka, Jagadish Vishwakarma for Junagadh District, and Purushottam Solanki for Gir Somnath. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has directed that all of these ministers arrive in their respective areas as soon as possible.

The government’s actions are intended to provide effective disaster response and to protect coastal areas from the probable impact of the cyclone.
