India Vs Netherlands World Cup 2023: On Sunday, November 12, at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, India defeated the Netherlands to finish on their league stage campaign in the ongoing ICC men’s ODI World Cup 2023.

Team India who batted first, scored 50 runs or more in each of the first five innings as they amassed an enormous 410/4. Captain Rohit Sharma (61) Shubman Gill (51), Virat Kohli (51), all scored half-centuries, but Shreyas Iyer (128*) and KL Rahul (102) scored100 plus figures on scoreboard.

A few Dutch batters, in response, did get off to good starts but were unable to turn them into significant runs. Consequently, they were bowled out for 250, and India won the match by a margin of 160 runs.

India used 9 bowlers in India Netherlands Match

Rohit Sharma used nine different bowlers during the second innings. This is the combined most bowlers a team can utilize in an ODI innings. With the exception of wicketkeeper KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer, every other player bowled during the second innings.

Remarkably, Virat and Rohit both claimed wickets in the end. In taking his fifth wicket in an ODI, and his first since 2014, the latter removed the opposition’s captain, Scott Edwards. With just 13 runs given up in his three overs of bowling.

When questioned about the reasoning behind this choice, Rohit stated, “We are constantly thinking about the sixth bowler.” As a team, we wish to develop those options. It’s significant that we had nine possibilities today. This was the game where we had the option to try different things.

The fact that India has five suitable bowling options available to them after all-rounder Hardik Pandya sustained an injury is noteworthy. The focus was on trying out a few candidates for the vacant sixth bowler position before the semi-final matchup with New Zealand.
