Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma Officially DIVORCED

Published on

Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and choreographer Dhanashree Verma are now formally divorced, as announced by their lawyer to the media. He answered, “The divorce has been done. Marriage is dissolved.”

The divorce was concluded in the Bandra Family Court in Mumbai on 20th March 2025. This came after the Bombay High Court agreed to expedite the procedure by eliminating the regular six-month waiting time due to Chahal’s involvement in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Advocate Nitin Kumar Gupta, representing Chahal, told ANI, “The court has granted the decree of divorce. The court has accepted the joint petition of both parties. The parties are no longer husband and wife.”

Chahal and Verma married in December 2020, but have been living separately since June 2022. They filed for divorce in February 2025. According to Section 13B of the Hindu Marriage Act, there is often a six-month waiting time before a divorce is granted.

However, because they had previously been living apart for nearly two and a half years and Chahal needed to focus on his IPL matches, the court granted them to skip the waiting period. The final hearing took place on March 20th, only days before the IPL season began on March 23rd.

Chahal was seen coming at the Bandra Family Court for the hearing while wearing a hood and mask to escape public scrutiny.

As part of the divorce settlement, Chahal reportedly agreed to pay Dhanashree Verma a total of Rs 4.75 crore in alimony. He has already paid Rs 2.37 crore, and the balance would be paid following the official divorce decree. Earlier reports suggested that Dhanashree had requested Rs 60 crore in alimony, but her family refuted the charges. They issued a statement saying, “We are deeply outraged by the baseless claims being made about the alimony figure.”
