PM Modi to Address Ghana’s Parliament, Receives Top State Honour
Accra: On the concluding day of his visit to Ghana, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to address Ghana’s Parliament this afternoon and later interact with members of the Indian community in Accra.
Earlier, PM Modi and Ghana’s President John Dramani Mahama held delegation-level talks, where the two nations agreed to upgrade their relationship to a Comprehensive Partnership, reflecting their shared commitment to deepening cooperation across key areas.
The leaders signed four Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) in the sectors of culture, standards, Ayurveda and traditional medicine, and agreed to establish a joint commission mechanism to monitor progress.
In their discussions, both sides emphasized collaboration in trade, investment, agriculture, digital technology, infrastructure, defence, and people-to-people exchanges. The growing volume of Indian investments in Ghana was also acknowledged as a positive step forward.
Later today, PM Modi will pay tribute at the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial, the site where Ghana’s independence was declared, honoring a key chapter in African history.
As a significant highlight of the visit, President Mahama conferred upon Prime Minister Modi the Officer of the Order of the Star of Ghana, the country’s highest civilian award, in recognition of his global leadership and statesmanship.
